Lafia Emirate confers traditional title of Magaji Dangin on Senator Wadada

President Bola Tinubu has urged Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District to leverage on his newly traditional title of Magaji Dangin of Lafia Barebere to promote peace and unity among the diverse socio-cultural groups across the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa state.
The President made the appeal during the turbaning ceremony of Senator Wadada in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital, calling on him to use the conferment of the new traditional tittle given to him for sustainable development within the Lafia Emirate and across the traditional institutions in the state.
President Tinubu, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume congratulated Senator Wadada for the honour, describing it as well deserved honour.
He stated that the honour is no doubt in recognition of Wadada’s contribution to service to humanity and good governance in the state.
His words, “Your elevation to this prestigious traditional title is not only a profound personal honour but also a resounding affirmation of your unwavering commitment to public service, community development and the preservation of cultural heritage.
It is a fitting recognition of your sterling contributions to nation building, your distinguished legislative career as well as your consistent advocacy for good governance, equity and social progress.”
According to him, Wadada’s antecedents in both the public and private sectors as well as his unwavering philanthropy footprint across national, states and beyond have earned him the respect and admiration of the people whose lives you have been touched in meaningful and purposeful ways.
“As you step into this noble traditional role, I trust that you will leverage your influence to further promote unity, peace and sustainable development within Nasarawa state, particularly the Lafia emirate and the traditional institutions in the state,” he stated.
“May this new chapter of your life be filled with divine guidance, wisdom and strength to discharge your duties with honor and distinction,” he said.
On his part, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, represented by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, congratulated Wadada, describing him as a man of honour, integrity and a philanthropist who care for the general wellbeing of the citizens of the state, particularly the less privilege once in the society.
He applauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for his developmental strides by transforming Nasarawa state to a modern city with projects spread across the length and breadth of the state, urging him to sustain the spirit of good governance.
Earlier, Governor Sule who is the chief host of the occasion appreciated the Emir of Lafia for recognising Wadada and many other sons and daughters of the state with different honours.
He explained that Nasarawa State is the most peaceful states across the federation, adding that it is the all-inclusive leadership style of the Emir that is helping in achieving peace and unity among the different ethnic groups and religious in the state.
The Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad (rtd), thanked all those that grace the occasion and expressed satisfaction for fulfilled the will made by his father and the father of Senator Wadada in maintaining and sustaining the long mutual relationship that had existed among them many years ago.
According to the Emir, Alhaji Danyaya, the father of Senator Ahmad Wadada Aliyu was a very close associate of his father who live a life of trust, caring, love and mutual understanding.
Speaking shortly after he was turbaned, by Maikano Abdullahi Musa and assisted by Sarki Pada Zakaria Anas, Senator Wadada, appreciated all who graced the occasion, promising to consolidate on what he is doing in terms of implementing programmes that have direct bearing on the people of the state and beyond.
He, however, narrated that the honour done to him by Lafia emirate would spur him to do more in governance and service to humanity.
Those in attendance during the turbaning ceremony are the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, the immediate past Executive Director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), former Senator, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, representative of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Minister of Women Affairs, Imaam Suleiman, Minister of Arts and Culture, Musawa and former governor Edo state Adams Oshomole.
Others are serving senators and former members of House of Representatives, Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammad and his counterpart of Niger State among other serving and former governors, former governors of Bauchi and Adamawa states Adamu Muazu and Mohammed Bindow, respectively, former minister, Sanusi Daggash, Auditor General of the Federation among others.
Groups of horse riders and praise singers also added colour to the occasion through their performances.
