Both the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and members of the Progressive Governor’s Forum (PGF), have commiserated with Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, over the demise of his first son, Hassan Abdullahi Sule.
The Vice President, who arrived Gudi, the country home of the Governor late afternoon on Friday, described the passing on of the 36-year old Hassan, as tragic and sad.
Members of the Progressive Governor’s Forum, led by its Chairman and Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, alongside Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, arrived Gudi before the Vice President.
Prof Osinbajo recalled that, barely six months ago, precisely on June 25th, 2022, he attendedthe wedding ceremony of the late Hassan, only to now mourn his demise.
While condoling with Engineer Sule, his family, traditional rulers and people of Nasarawa State, the Vice President consoled that, as painful and tragic as the exit of Hassan, it’s only God who gives and takes life.
“This is a very tragic and sad day indeed. For me, as I am sure it’s all of you here in Nasarawa State, it’s just as the master of ceremonies have mentioned, we were here last year, I believe it was June 25th last year, to celebrate the wedding of Hassan Sule, first son of my dear brother, Governor of Nasarawa State.
“Unfortunately we are here, to commiserate with him in the very terrible circumstances of his death. And I say that that for all of us who and I am sure, believe in the Almighty God, we know He is the one who gives life and He is the one who takes life.
“None of us has control over when we are dying or when we live. We know that it is all the perfect plan of our father in heaven, God Almighty. I want to say, first to my brother the Governor and members of the family, as well as our royal highness and all who are here, to commiserate with him and to condole with him.
“We pray that the Almighty God will comfort him and members of the family. And we pray that the Lord, who gives and takes, will have mercy on him, and have mercy on the family and have mercy on all of us.
“I just want to say finally that, when something like this happens, especially when it’s death, we probably think we could have done something, maybe there is something we could have done. But I am happy we are all people who believe and I know that there is nothing that we could have done. I commiserate with you and condole with you and the family as well. And I pray that the Almighty God will strengthen you and comfort you. Will give you peace concerning this matter” the Vice President stated.
Professor Osinbajo equally condoled with the Governor and traditional rulers on the tragic incidence involving the killing of about 40 Fulani, in Rukubi, Doma Local Government Area.
“I express sincere condolence of the Federal Government of Nigeria. And I pray that the Almighty God will comfort this state concerning this, even as we await the outcome of the investigations that are going on,” he added.
On his part, Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, speaking on behalf of the PGF, commiserated with Engineer Sule and the people of Nasarawa State over the tragic passing on of Hassan Abdullahi Sule.
The PGF equally commiserated with their colleague over the tragic incidence in Rukubi, where over 40 Fulani lost their lives.
“Let me start by expressing our condolence on the loss of our son. Hassan Abdullahi Sule. The tragic incidence that happened today and shocked all of us.
“Therefore, on behalf of myself and all of us in the PGF and good people of Kebbi State, I extend our condolences to our brother, to HRH and all the royal highnesses, to the people of Nasarawa State.
“Hassan is not only from Nasarawa State, he is also our son, all of us. And as much as you love someone, God loves him better. We pray that, as believers, that God will give him Aljannat Firdaus. And our brother and the family and the royal fathers, will also be consoled by the believe that God gives and God takes away,” Governor Bagudu said.
He also extended similar condolences over the victims of the Rukubi attack.
“On behalf of the Progressive Governor’s Forum, we commiserate with us on the tragic incidence that happened in Nasarawa which resulted in the lost of many lives and pray that God grant Aljannatul Firdaus for all those who lost their lives.
“And may God bring understanding that this tragedy, as painful as it is, we pray that we all understand the challenges of the moment and everyone will give in his best towards ensuring that we console and comfort the families and loved ones and also at the same time pray that may God help us that such incidences never happen again.
“On behalf of all of us, our condolence and Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo is here, please extend our condolences to all members of the association (Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore),” he said.
Responding on behalf of the Nasarawa first family and the Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, Emir of Lafia, His Royal Highness, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad (rtd), thanked Vice President Professor Yemi Osibanjo, who doubles as the Madugun Nasarawa, for always being with the people of the state, whether in good or bad times.
“We as Muslims we have been instructed, any time one of us is faced with the challenge of any kind of tragedy, we gather round to console him and to remind him of the fact that, whatever you see in the journey of life, in the course of our journey, is an act of God.
“Thus, as it is, on death, we have been warned by Allah, SWT, that he gives no notice. It’s an appointed time by Allah, SWT. He doesn’t extend that time by one second. But it is always painful to us, it’s always a new thing to us when it occur.
“We thank you immensely for coming at this time and for the brotherhood which you demonstrated. We know as a matter of fact, we share the grief and pains,” he said.
The royal father who earlier was on ground to receive Governor Bagudu alongside his Borno State counterpart, appreciated members of the PGF for coming to Gudi to perform the act of worship as prescribed by Islam.
