The birth of a new book
The Monrovia Christian Fellowship 9, St. Sinkor, Warner Avenue in Liberia, is warming up for the birth of a new book, titled: Beautiful Mind. The general public are invited to witness the launch by 3:30 GMT, on Sunday, October 24, 2021. The book is written by one of Liberia’s wordsmiths, D’ Siafa Draper, whose literary works in recent times have been making their way onto bookshelves in most bookshops home and abroad. The keynote speaker for this great event is Pastor Gemane G. Getteh, who will be speaking under the theme: The importance of Indigenous Literature in Post-War Liberia.
The book, Beautiful Mind is a collection of poignant poems, beautifully crafted with imagery and metaphors meant to explore and shake the axis of hope, faith, brokenness, abuse, loss, violence, the present, past and future of Liberia’s economic and social landscapes.
It also contains some well articulated articles and speeches which can send the minds of readers into some realms of ecstasy, while at the same time try to draw a dichotomy between daring situations that tries to expose the powerlessness of man in extreme situations.
It is further categorised into four segments to silently intrigue the readers into anchoring their moods to certain poems which could either be personal, conventional or nonconventional. With wit and charm, this book will certainly take emotions hostage, sending readers on journeys of romantic adventures where they find the virtual flow of their day-to-day activities.
Each section uniquely invokes the feelings of love and romance, while twerking to unearth societal ills and tragic occurrences.
Beautiful Mind is undoubtedly a scholarly work of praise, lamentation, and a spiritual reminder of man’s immortality woven into sheer creative skills of traditional African Poetry; embodied with the taste of unexpected delight, while beautifully bringing readers in union with practical experiences.
Author’s profile

Draper serves as Head of Reviews at the Liberian Poet Society (LPS) and is a member of the Ghana Association of Writers (GAW), including several online intellectual platforms where he shares some of his written works. Most of his writings cut across Love, Spirituality, World Peace and the Politics of Africa. Inspired by the Igbo saying: ‘the millipede that is stepped on keeps quiet while its aggressor is the one to complain,’ is the mat on which he sits to spill the ink of love, and blow the flute of justice, freedom and change.
