The Anambra State Government says it has not issued any statement concerning the reopening of markets on Monday next week, contrary to social media reports alleging that such statement has been made by the government.

The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba, disclosed this newsmen in Awka, said it is not true and that policy statements are not made through the social media.
He therefore wondered how writers of such misleading stories get their information, saying that if any such thing exists, the information would be communicated through the proper channel.
Commissioner Adinuba disclosed further that the State government would hold a review meeting on activities on Wednesday 22nd April and take a decision on the next line of action which will form the hallmark of the press statement that would be released to the general public on the situation.
He said: “This is a policy matter and policy matters are not given to the public through the social media for goodness sake. Please disregard such information. If there is anything of sort, I am the person to announce it.
“We are having a meeting this afternoon to review a lot of events. So I will announce it once we take a decision,” the Commissioner stated.
It would be recalled that a blog had reported that markets in Anambra State will reopen for normal commercial activities on Monday next week.
