Lottery Trust Fund Executive Secretary, Adeyanju marks Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary with IDPs in Abuja

The Executive Secretary, National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), Comrade Tosin Adeyanju, has in commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary distributed essential clothing and food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, Karonmajigi and Durumi Internally Displaced Persons camp in Abuja.
The donation is aimed at uplifting the downtrodden, demonstrating NLTF’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and promoting national unity.
This is contained in a press statement by Mr. Arowolo Solomon Alaba, Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary on Media and Corporate Communications.
According to Comrade Adeyanju, “As we celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, we remember those who have been displaced from their homes due to conflict and disaster. Today, we stand in solidarity with you, our brothers and sisters, who have had to leave behind the comfort and familiarity of your homes.
“This donation symbolizes our commitment to your well-being and our resolve to support vulnerable communities. We believe that every Nigerian deserves dignity, hope, and a chance to rebuild.
“We pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in our great nation. May this independence anniversary mark a new beginning for our country, and may we continue to strive for a brighter future for all.
“Through this gesture, we hope to bring some comfort and relief to your lives. May these essential items provide sustenance, warmth and joy.
“Let us work together to provide support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, as the president strive to build a greater Nigeria where every citizen can access opportunities and every child can grow up with hope and promise,“ he said.
Items donated at IDP Camp, Karmajiji are: 62 Canvasses; 10 Volley Balls; 5 Basket Balls, 10 footballs; 90 football boots;
320 Polo T-Shirt; 210 cooling towels; 32 large socks and 48 neck T-Shirts.
Other items includes: bags of 75kg of corns; bags of 70kg of millet; bags of 70kg red sorghum; bags of 103kg of garri, bags of 50kg parboiled rice and detergents.
Similarly, at IDP camp in Durumi, Area 1, items donated includes: 62 Canvases; 10 volleyballs; 5 basketballs; 10 footballs;
85 football boots; 330 Polo T-Shirts; 210 cooling towels; 32 large socks and 48 neck T-Shirts.
Other items are: bags of 75kg corn;
bags of 70kg millet, bags of 70kg red sorghum; bags of 103kg garri; bags of 50kg parboiled rice and detergents.
The Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Goverrnmental Affairs, Mr. Zaphaniah Bitrus Jisalo, was represented by S. D. Mohammed, acting Director Parastatals was accompanied by Dr. Cyprian Eddey Kpakolo, Director Policy Implementation and Monitoring of Government Decisions, expressed the Executive Secretary’s genuine concern for the well-being of those at the camp. He emphasized that the Executive Secretary’s visit demonstrated his love and care for them, and that he is committed to doing more to support them.
Idris Ibrahim Halilu who spoke on behalf of IDPs in Durumi said,
“We thank the entire NLTF team for remembering us in our time of need. Your kindness has brought joy and hope to our lives. As internally displaced persons, we have faced unimaginable challenges. We have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods. But we have not lost hope. We are grateful for this you have done.
“I came here when I was 62, but now I am 73 years, that you have remembered us God will bless everything you do, you have remembered the poor, you have remembered God.”
Women Leader of Durumi IDP camp, Liatu Ayuba, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the donation. “We are grateful for this love you have shown us today, our children are very happy ever since they were told that you were coming.
“May God bless everything you do, for remembering the poor and vulnerable. May your efforts be rewarded and may you continue to support those in need.”
Liatu Ayuba also urged NLTF to continue supporting the IDP camp, saying, “Don’t forget us, we are still in need. Your sustained support will help us rebuild our lives.”
Abdulazeez Yakubu, Secretary of Karamajiji IDP camp, echoed similar sentiments, praying for NLTF’s success and continued impact.
The donation is a testament to NLTF’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and promoting good causes across Nigeria.
