Lutheran President, Filibus visits Adamawa Governor Fintiri, urges end to insurgency

The Archbishop of Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) and President of the Lutheran World Federation, Musa Panti Filibus has called on government at all levels to take proactive measures towards ending the incessant security threat bedeviling the country.
The Archbishop who made the call when he led Bishops of various Dioceses of the Church on a courtesy call to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri in the Government House, Yola advocated for religious education and education among others on the people to help end the menace.

He commiserated with the government and people of Garkida over the last Friday attacks on the area by suspected Boko Haram insurgents and commended Governor Umaru Fintiri for his quick visit to the area which has shown that he has the concern and care of the people.
The Archbishop also saluted the Governor for the courageous steps he has taken to address the issue of insecurity in Adamawa state including insurgency, banditry, kidnappings and the rate at which the lives of people were destroyed by armed men under the guise of herdsmen.
He told the Governor that the annual convention of the LCCN will commence this week beginning from Wednesday and thanked the Governor for providing a level playing ground for the convention to hold, declaring that members of the church will continue to pray for the Governor towards his successful tenure in office.
Responding, Governor Fintiri thanked the delegation for the visit and asked them prayers and support to his administration that is ready to better the state out of bad governance which he said so far government has done much in the areas of security and infrastructure among others.
He revealed that the present administration has pooled out from the streets over fifty thousand out of school children and Almajiris and promised to engage over one hundred ones before the end of this year so that in two years time government will end the menace of children roaming about the street.
Meanwhile, Governor Fintiri has also received members of the State Advisory and Executive Council of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and thanked them for the visit, urging them to help his administration with prayers and support for the overall interest of the state.
The Governor who lamented the debt profile of the state assured that his administration will not plunge the country into unnecessary debt because it has come to serve the masses and will not not relent, urging the religious leaders and people to give their maximum support and cooperation.
Earlier in his speech, the State Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Reverend Japhet Thomason explained that their visit was to identify with the Fintiri led administration and congratulated the Governor on his victory at Supreme Court which has justified the mandate of the masses.
He commended the giant strides so far achieved by Governor Fintiri in the areas of security, education and infrastructure among others and encouraged him to continue with the good work so that Adamawa will record more development and progress.
