The Mairiga Charity Foundation had slaughtered bulls and distributed bags of rice and gave cash to celebrate the new year 2025.
The Founder of the organization Hajiya Fatima Mairiga Umar in an interview with some selected journalists in Damaturu, Yobe state capital, said the gesture, which has been ongoing for many years, is part of the foundation responsibility to felicitate with the needy, especially during festive periods.
Hajiya Mairiga advised Muslims and Christians to uphold mutual tolerance and love, especially amidst the prevailing economic challenges, for the sake of peace and Nigerians progress.
According to her, “Let me tell you that, We try to put smiles on the faces of the needy in the society, most especially those living in IDPs camps during festive periods. Christian are our friends, brotherhood as well as we are living in the same place.”
In his respond, the representative of the Christian faith, Mr. Emmanuel Degubi, said that the Foundation has made tangible interventions to the needy, including distribution of rice free cataract surgeries, helping windows amongst others.
He also commended the founder of the foundation Hajiya Fatima Mairiga Umar for her gesture and effort to assist less privileges, as well as Christians Windows during this critical period.
He described Christmas and New Year as a time of light and love, emphasing its significance as a period for sharing joy and fostering happiness.
“As we celebrate this season. I urge both Christians and Muslims to embrace these virtues and them reflect on our,” Degubi said.
He said that, The teachings of Jesus Christ, or Holy Prophet Isa (Alaikum Salam), remain a guide for us all. His life was a testament to tolerance, peace, and unconditional love for humanity.
Degubi commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his leadership styles to move the state forward for the interest of the people.
