March 9 polls: 3 stabbed in Nnewi South

About three people were stabbed at Akwaihedi, in the morning hours and chased away from polling stations. Mr. Johnbosco Akaegbobi of the PDP alleged.
He said he called the police to intervene without any help from the security operatives.
Mr. Akaegbobi also alleged that the APGA deliberately decided to frustrate the PDP supporters from voting for their candidate.
While the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Rita Maduagwu who is contesting for reelection under APGA to represent Nnewi South Constituency II said at Emedim Ward III, Ukpor, that the Assembly election was peaceful and credible.
His APC candidate Mr. Paul Ezeobi and his PDP counterpart, Mr. Johnbosco Akaegbobi alleged that high degree of violence and exclusionist tendency marred the election.
Hon. Maduagwu told newsmen that electorates cast their votes without incumbrances and that the card reader were working well at her polling unit, a claim that was corroborated by other voters like, Barrister Maduagwu Patrick and Mr. Eliza Okoli at the same polling unit.
In the same vein, the APC candidate, Mr. Ezeobi complained that there were reported cases of peope thumb-printing at certain locations against his party which he said he has begun investigation on.
He also complained of malfunctioning of card readers and ballot papers not tallying with the voter’s registers which he said qualified the election will be regarded as “non credible unless the issues were corrected.”
Meanwhile, there was low turn out of voters and general feeling of apathy as electorates failed to out to cast their votes like during the Presidential and National Assembly election.
Some of the people who spoke with our correspondent complained that it was a waste of time for people to vote because their voted did not count during the Presidential and National Assembly election.
“What is the need of coming out to queue and spend your time and energy to vote when you are very sure your votes will not count, during the last election our votes did not count so we decided not to vote instead exercise ourselves with street football.
Our Correspondent noticed that in almost all the streets and roads youth were playing football or drinking in beer parlours that operated for business following no disturbance of operators of business activities by security agents.
