By Anthony Maliki
Mbuko in Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) stood still on Sunday as parishioners of St. Gabriel Catholic Church observed the revered celebration of Christ The Universal King in a massive procession.
The procession started from the Church premises, Mbuko to the junction linking Kubwa expressway to Bwari town with members of the cadet corps, MOD, Church wardens and ex-military personnel having a hectic time controlling traffic.
The parishioners, irrespective of their ages and gender, defiled the dusty road and heat and danced to various songs and beats, in total submission of the Holy Body of Christ. Songs were provided by the choir at the back of a truck, Zumanta Mata with their unique rendition, band and the Igbo community.
The Alter servants ahead of the procession was led by David Orshi with others provided support. Some others took charge of the charcoal for the burning of incense.
The Associate Priest, Rev. Fr. Norbert Attah raised the scared Host atop an SUV vehicle all through the procession, while the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Chuhwak Hilary Gyang joined other parishioners in the long walk encouraging them to move on.
The SUV was led by female children in all white attire holding baskets of pieces of ribbons they sprinkle on the way. The vehicle was as guarded by Knights led by Sir O.C.B India-West and Sir Kenneth Oduah among others and their Ladies.
The huge crowd later ended the procession at the LEA primary school at the junction where the body of Christ was further revered.
During his Homily at the Church, Rev. Fr. Gyang said Jesus changed the narrative of a king by ruling from the cross and his Heavenly throne.
