Medal haul as 5th Hon. Agara Karate championship ends in Abuja

The fifth Honourable Silas Ali Agara national Karate championship has concluded with medals hauled at the Velodrome of MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The four-day championship attracted 21 Karate Clubs and State Teams from across the country.
According to the sponsor of the championship and President of Karate Federation of Nigeria, (KFN) Hon Silas Ali Agara who is also the Director General of National Directorate of Employment, (NDE), athletes should continue to train to participate and win trophies at championships within Nigeria and at international competitions.
Hon Agara who was a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State called on corporate organizations to continue supporting sports which will lead to the growth and development of the youth and for the flag and name of Nigeria to be mentioned internationally.
He said, the junior individual kumite eliminations for male categories ranges from 55kg, 61 kg and 68kg and female categories consists of 48, 53 and 59kg respectively.

He said the senior kumite male categories were 60, 67 and 75 kgs and the female were 50, 55 and 61kg.
Hon Agara said in the senior Kumite male category, Team Strata won gold, Team FCT silver and Teams Delta and Kano won silver.
The results sheet signed by Chimezie Asiegbu, Secretary General and Dave Jegede, Technical Director shows that, in the senior team Kumite female, Shine-On Academy won gold, NSCDC Team Silver and Team Kano and Team Delta won bronze respectively.
The overall medals table shows FCT Abuja topped with 7 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze, Strata Team second with 6 gold and Taraba State Team hauled 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze respectively.
Teams Nasarawa, Abia, Plateau, Imo, Benue and Kogi didn’t win any medal.
