Meteorologist eyes House of Representatives seat, advocates for new breed in National Assembly

A meteorologist and youth leader in Cross River State, Eno Beke Ikwen has declared to vie for the Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency seat.

He has also strongly advocated for a new breed leadership in the he National Assembly.

He said this at his declaration in Calabar, saying he is propelled by the overwhelming conviction that Nigeria deserves a re-oriented and more focused representation led by the youths.

According to him, Nigeria needs stronger institutions to create jobs for teeming youth population, set the path for growth and progress and prosperous country.

“There is need for New Breed with experiences in the civil service to reposition this country.”

Ikwen assured his constituents of quality and effective representation if elected to represent Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

Ikwen said his 6-point manifesto anchor on skill building, peace building, rural electricity, education, Cross River dreams, and purposeful leadership.

Ikwen said, if elected, he will sponsor bills for capital punishment of rapists
and corrupt government officials.

He said he will also sponsor bill to slash 50% tuition for female students, a bill to temporarily discontinue the further establishment of Universities and focus on building highly equipped vocational training centers and bill for proper police reform.

Former national chairman of Universal Youth Fellowship Nigeria, Ikwen said he has in mind to sponsor bill to create Nigeria’s first Brain Bank village across the six geopolitical zones, a bill to degeneralize subsidies and give subsidies to the poor and farmers to encourage food production, a bill to enable internal security agents to bear light and concealable arms, a bill to pursue the proper resettlement of indigenous people of Bakassi, and a bill to develop a comprehensive moral code, amongst others.

Speaking at the event, APC leaders in his ward expressed their support for Eno Ikwen’s candidacy. They added that they are confident that the House of Representatives aspirant will be a good representative of their Constituency, if elected.
