Mix reaction as Abarshi bows out of Taraba poly, Agbu takes over in acting capacity

At last, there were signs of relief as management, staff and students of Taraba State Polytechnic, Suntai on Thursday celebrated exist of Dr. Ayuba Ibrahim Abarshi’s four years leadership.

Our correspondent who covered the handing over ceremony at Jalingo campus reports that the institution was agog with jubilation as the era of Dr. Abarshi administration has brought to an end.

It was  gathered that two months before his exit date, the out-gone Rector was busy visiting top government officials of Governor Agbu Kefas lobbying for a second term, a move some keen observers described as dead on arrival.

Apart from the exit of the Rector, other concern groups from the institution expressed gratitude to Governor Kefas who ensured that the Registrar of the institution, Comrade Ignatius Jallason was not spared.

Earlier, the deputy Rector academic/Chief Lecturer of the institution Mr. Paul Peter Notani who doubles as moderator at the event thanked God for smooth transition and appreciated Governor Kefas support for the institution since assumption of office a year ago.

Notani further disclosed that the essence of the gathering was the handing over from the former rector to the new acting one following the expiration of four years of Dr. Abarshi.

The new acting Rector, Dr. Amos Agbu who was then deputy rector to former Dr. Abarshi noted with gratitude over the smooth transition.

The new acting boss who spoke through the Deputy Rector (administration), Mrs. Tani Yavala shortly after handing over said the entire process was generally peaceful, noting that the former rector has played a significant role in the past four years.

Mrs. Yavala who doubles as representative of State Ministry of Education also lauded state government role on education policy and support to the polytechnic, however commended management, staff and students of the institution for living above board particularly during the period under review.
