Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has been lauded for approving the creation of state livestock development agency.

State Chairman Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Alhaji Ya’u Ibrahim Barewa made the commendation while speaking with our correspondent in Jalingo on Monday.

While applauding Governor Kefas wisdom as a move in the right direction, Ibrahim Barewa acknowledged that majority of beneficiaries of the newly created agency are its members.

According to him, the recent development will reduce insecurity and farmer/harder disputes, thereby promoting peaceful coexistence, profit making and engaging members into more business ventures.

The MACBAN chairman further revealed that with the new agency in place, members will have access to veterinary clinics, western education and modern techniques of rearing livestock such as artificial insemination known as cross transfer of semen from one cattle breed to another among several other profits in the livestock system.

Alhaji Barewa while cautioning its members against acts capable of truncating the lofty ideas of Governor Kefas also called for unity among herder/farmer and ensure total support of government programme, policy and its successful implementation in the state.

It could be recalled recently that the state governor in a press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Barr. Gebon Timothy Kataps and made available to media houses in the state indicates the creation of “Taraba State Livestock Development Agency” was in line with the Federal Government policy on the agency.
