More fears as second tremor hit Abuja

Mpape is a largely shanty hilly settlement
Many residents of Abuja panicked Friday morning as another tremor occurred at about 6:11am as people prepare for the day’s activity.
The tremor occurred mainly at the hilly Mpape area, a largely shanty settlement in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In fact, when Apex News visited that area at about 8:30am, some residents were seen moving their property out of the settlement.
Many residents residing at Dutsen-Sokale about 10 kilometres away experienced a “bang” similar to a blast from a quarry. Also those living around the military facility stretch of Lungi, Niger, Gowon, W.S. Bassey as well as Mogadishu barracks felt some vibration.

The first tremor occurred on Wednesday afternoon to Thursday night where residents in Eneje Street, Masafa Road, Berger Quarry and Area One areas in the community said the ground shook intermittently for a long period, raising fears of an earthquake.
A resident, Loveline James said when it started they thought it was normal rock activity that were frequent in the area but after sometime, they realised it was abnormal.
According to the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), they are aware of the vibration at the Mpape hill and had sent a team to pick coordinate/samples from the area for further analysis.
The FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) called Abuja residents to remain calm over the recent earth shaking.
