The wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano has been commended for her passion for the welfare of widows.
The Member representing Onitsha South Constituency II in the State House of Assembly, Mrs. Beverly Nkemdiche-Ikpeazu gave the commendation while speaking on the significance of the International Widows Day.
The lawmaker noted that Dr. Mrs. Obiano has built houses for many widows, trained some in basic skills and equipped them among others.
Mrs. Nkemdiche-Ikpeazu regretted the difficulty many widows are passing through and called for concerted efforts to protect them.
The lawmaker stated that International Widow’s Day is aimed at creating awareness on the violation of human rights which widows suffer in many countries following the death of their spouses.
