Murder of Nimo former President-General: Obiano rewards police, informants

…as police nab suspects at Upper Iweka for bag snatching

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has paid cash reward totaling six million naira to police operatives and informants who aided the arrest of wanted suspects involved in the alleged murder of Chief Anthony Igboka from Nimo and Mr. Ndubuisi Nwokolo in Onitsha, Anambra State.
It would be recalled that following the shooting incident at Nimo on April 16, which led to the death of Chief Anthony Igboka, Governor Obiano had promised a cash reward of five million naira for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
According to a release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Anambra State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed for the Commissioner of Police, one million naira is in respect of the notorious murder suspect Ikechukwu Udensi alias Ikanda who was equally arrested by the Police.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Dandaura while presenting the cash reward to the beneficiaries thanked Governor Obiano for fulfilling his promise and restated the Command’s readiness to sustain its onslaught against Crimes and Criminality in the State.
Meanwhile, following the flag off of operation Puff Adder in Onitsha by the Commissioner of Police CP Mustapha Dandaura, Police operatives attached Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) and operation “Puff Adder” in conjunction with local vigilante have arrested two suspects who allegedly specialised in snatching women’s handbags at upper Iweka Onitsha.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer Mr. Haruna Mohammed (SP) the suspects one Ugwuanyi Ifeanyi and one Sopulu Ugwoma who hailed from Nsukka, Enugu State are among the hoodlums terrorizing Upper Iwekka and Owerri Road axis.
The statement disclosed that a single barrel fabricated short gun was recovered from them as exhibit while Case is under investigation after which suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution.
It would be recalled that recently the Command has mobilized personnel and logistics at Upper Iweka to curtail the menace of robbery and handbags snatching syndicates in the area through operation Puff Adder.
