Muri Patriotic Elders Forum gears towards successful Peace Summit

The Muri Patrotic Elders Forum (MUDEF) in Taraba State is set for a glamorous peace summit to further cement the peace and unity of the entire people of the enclave of Muri.

Muri spans eight local governments in Taraba State. They are Jalingo, Gassol, Ardo Kola, Karim Lamido, Lau, Bali, Yorro and Zing.

MUDEF which is in the forefront in the clamour for creation of Muri State out of present Taraba State is mobilising the people of Muri towards sustaining the long standing good relationships between the various communities inhabiting the Muri enclave.

Briefing members, Chairman Technical Committee of MUDEF and a strong pillar in the struggle for the creation of Muri State Hussaini Umar Mafindi told members during a meeting in Jalingo that personalities expected at the Summit
are High profile politicians,
all graded chiefs, National and State Legislators as well as Local Government chairmen past and present.

Others are clerics, traditional and community leaders, business communities, youth leaders of various tribes and organizations and Senior
civil servants, representatives of various nationalists residents in Muri, academics, sons and daughters of Muri, representatives of security operatives in Muri which shall be reviewed from time to time before the date of the event.

Mafindi maintained that peace, unity, trust and confidence builds a formidable group that earns the respect of every body which MUDEF is advancing to change the narratives of the citizens of Muri in this era of completive world that is making the people lagged behind due to the fractured unity, misunderstanding, animosity, mischiefs without recourse to love, sympathy and trust that will stimulate rapid development, growth and prosperity through inclusiveness and admiration which is the focal point of MUDEF.

“We can’t achieve anything without being United, United we stand build a brighter future for us and generations to come, I hope that at the end of the Summit, there could be acceptable, workable and enduring modalities for reconciliation amongst us,” Mafindi noted.

He advised members of the Forum to focus more on building strong relationships and working collectively towards a common goal and expressed gratitude about the Muri Peace submit slated for January 26th, 2026 adding that peace, unity and harmony are paramount to the growth of Muri Emirate and the actualization of Muri State.

He also called on the people of Muri to wholeheartedly support MUDEF in it’s efforts towards lasting peace and prosperity in Muri and actualization of the creation of Muri State saying that all demands for the creation of the new State have been met and sought for more fervent prayers.

Mafindi also appealed to all the people of Muri to attend the Peace summit to make them more peaceful and United for the Progress and Development of Muri.
