Muslim leaders caution against religious intolerance, urge oneness

The Grand Chief Imam of  Asaba Central Mosque in Delta State, Alhaji Adam Ayokunnu has bared his mind on religious intolerance in the country, warning against suspicion and hatred for other faiths.

He spoke when members of a spiritual organisation, Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, BCS, led by their spokesman, Amah Williams worshipped and interfaced with them yesterday. 

Ayokunnu and the Muslim community in Asaba expressed happiness for the visit, disclosing that he and his brethren will also visit the religious leader in Calavar to consolidate their cooperation. 

He said the brotherhood they have exhibited with them should be encouraged, adding that “it shows ecumenism, love and oneness which we preach…”

He assured the delegation sent by their spiritual leader, His Holiness  Olumba Olumba Obu of the mutual respect and cooperation of the Muslim community towards promoting religious tolerance, peace and unity in nigeria and beyond.

The BCS spokesman emphasized on the need for the world to embrace peace and forgiveness.

“The desire of our leader is that the Muslim and Christians and indeed the entire world are of same Father and should’ve in peace and love.

“His message is not about religion but the unity of all the children of God, The Father has come to unite the entire world that there may be one fold and one shepherd.” 

He further revealed that the similarities in mode of worshipe between the Muslims and BCS speaks volumes of the unity of both faithfuls. 

Also speaking, administrator of BCS in Delta State, Archbishop Chidimma Kekeh assured the Muslim faithful closer cooperation in the task of promoting religious tolerance.
