His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu
By Akpan David, Calabar
A large delegation of Muslim leaders and faithful in Cross River State have presented a praying mat to His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, the spiritual leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star.
The delegation was led by the leader of Fulani/Hausa Muslim Community in the state, Sariki Alhaji Garba Lawan.
They called on the spiritual leader at his headquarters in Calabar to express happiness for his regular supports to them as well as efforts towards unity, peace and progress amongst them and natives.
Presenting a gift of a praying mat with superscription of OOO and the photograph of Ka’aba to the spiritual leader, Lawan noted that there are striking similarities in the spiritual organisation and Islamic doctrines and tenets, like in the manner of greeting, not wearing of shoes into the worship centers hall, sisters’ complete covering of head and body. He also remarked that the symbol OOO is inscribed in important worship sites in Mecca and other holy places.
It is instructive to note that the symbol OOO, initials of the spiritual leader, is highly revered and inscribed in most BCS items and adherents’ houses.
The Sarki expressed deep appreciation to the spiritual leader for the enduring good relationship between his organization and the Hausa/Fulaji community, recalling how they have enjoyed supports from him for their mosque building projects.
