Shafiu Adamu Duguri, one of the young and upcoming footballers playing for Bauchi State owned Wikki Tourists FC has declared that his ambition is to one day play for the National men’s football team, Super Eagles.
The talented footballer who is an attacking midfielder told Sports Writers in Bauchi that he is doing well playing for Wikki Tourists FC while eyeing a call up to the National team starting with the U-20, Flying Eagles.
According to him, “the dream of every good player is to end up in the National team to wear the National jersey carrying the entire nation on the shoulders seeking for national honors. I hope that God will make it possible very soon”.
Another dream the young footballer is pursuing is to get a permanent football deal in Europe saying, “my dream is to find myself playing for any of the big clubs in Europe. I am confident that very soon I will be there”.
Though he almost got a deal in one of the clubs in UAE where he went for trials but for the reason that the league had ended and waiting for summer transfer to pull through.
Speaking on the current league, Shafiu Duguri rated the standard high considering that for the first time, league winners, Rivers United FC won the league with 5 matches to go saying, “Nigeria league is now getting better, many matches were won home and away without much trouble”.
He however lamented that the problem is the stress of traveling long distances every week on bad roads which has exposed the players to risks and fatigue calling for better playing conditions the season.
Shafiu Adamu Duguri said that he will never forget the match between Wikki Tourists FC and arch rivals, Kano Pillars FC which ended in a score draw with him getting the goal for the his team.
The young player commended the management and technical crew of Wikki Tourists FC for giving him the opportunity to express himself assuring that he will continue to give his best to the team anytime he is called upon to play.
He advised players to always give their best both at training and during match in order to justify their inclusion in the club just as he made a case for better playing condition for players in terms of bonuses and salaries as well as decent accommodation.
