The Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, has commended President Bola Tinubu for singing into law, the bill for the implementation of the N70,000 new National Minimum Wage.

Addressing journalists at the party’s secretariat in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital on Wednesday, the state chairman of the APC, Aliyu Bello explained that the new national minimum wage was aimed at improving on the welfare and wellbeing of the Nigerian workers.

He stated that the federal government led by President Tinubu, who happens to be a man of great democratic principles, and because of his unending love for development at the grassroots, recently dragged the 36 State Governors to the Supreme Court to ensure that the 774 Local Government Councils get financial autonomy.

He, further appreciated the president for opening up the borders which were closed during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that the lift on the ban on importation of goods and services would tackle the problem of food shortage and other essential items.

“President Bola Tinubu in his avowed commitment to resolving the perennial farmers/herders conflict has created the Ministry of Livestock Development as a way of boosting livestock production and food security in the country.

“Mr. President recently signed into law the bill on the implementation the new national minimum wage of 70, 000 naira with a view to improving on the welfare and wellbeing of the Nigerian workers,” he said.

The State APC Chairman said the president has been implementing policies aimed at addressing the challenges and sufferings of the citizens, and therefore called for more support to ensure the success of his administration.

Speaking on the planned protest slated for August 1, the party chairman condemned the perceived ill motives behind the protest and enjoined the citizens to be patriotic enough to embrace dialogue.

He, therefore, appealed to the youths to give the administration of President Bola Tinubu a chance to revamp the economy and reposition the nation on the path of prosperity.

“The Nasarawa State APC is hereby calling on the good people of the state especially our dear youths to give peace a chance, stay away from the protest and avoid acts capable of taking us back to the era of unfathomable reconstruction,” he added..

The APC chairman used the opportunity to call on the security agencies to provide adequate security personnel around the state and ensure that citizens go about their businesses without any hindrance.
