The Nasarawa State chapter All Progressives Congress (APC) Working Committee has passed a vote of confidence on the Minister of Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim.

The APC State Working Committee equally condemned the malicious attack by one Abdulkarim Alanana Mai’yau, popularly known as Oscar Keana, on the person of the Minister.

This is contained in a statement signed by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Mr Otaru Douglas made available to newsmen on Thursday in Lafia.

According to the statement, Mai’yau’s reckless utterances are false and clearly demonstrate desperation, frustration, and a craving for cheap popularity.

The statement highlighted the contributions and impacts made by the Minister, Suleiman-Ibrahim, like the Renewed Hope Social Impact Intervention Programmes championed by her office.

It said that Suleiman has not only distinguished herself nationally but also taken the voice of Nigeria to the international stage.

“On global platforms, she has spoken purpose to action, galvanised Nigerian women in the Diaspora, and projected Nasarawa State as one of the seven leading Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) States in Nigeria.

“Her outstanding leadership, competence, and commitment to advancing the welfare of women, children, families, and vulnerable groups are widely recognised,’ the statement added.

The APC, while reaffirming its solidarity with Sulaiman-Ibrahim’s tireless efforts, called on all Nigerians to celebrate her achievements and support her initiatives, especially her vision for women and vulnerable groups.

The statement read in parts, “Our attention has been drawn to a widely circulated video by one Abdulkarim Alanana Mai’yau, popularly known as Oscar Keana, an unregistered and inconsequential member of our party; calling for the removal of the Minister.

“It is on record that President Bola Tinubu, during his State visit to Nasarawa, publicly passed a vote of confidence on Imaan Sulaiman, describing her as a performer and a true representative of Nasarawa State in his cabinet.

“For her determination and commitment, Mr President, while on a state visit to the state, flagged off the Renewed Hope Social Impact Intervention Programmes championed by her office.

“At that historic event, women of Nasarawa State origin benefitted from the Women’s Advancement through Value Empowerment (WAVE) Programme, each receiving N1 million to support enterprise and uplift livelihoods.

“The State Working Committee of APC, hereby passes a resounding vote of confidence on Hon. Imaan Sulaiman, and categorically condemns the baseless and malicious attacks recently made against her person;.

The APC noted that it would not allow faceless detractors and political jobbers to malign her integrity or distract her from the enormous task of nation-building.

“Nigeria’s cybersecurity and criminal laws are clear, and the APC in Nasarawa State will not hesitate to deploy every legal instrument to protect the dignity of our leaders and the integrity of our party, ” the statement said.
