Nasarawa committed to promoting sports, plans building hotel at Lafia Golf Club

Nasarawa State Government says is committed to promoting sports activities and considering building 5 star hotel at Lafia Golf Club to promote sport tourism to boost internally generated revenue of the state.

The permanent Secretary, state Ministry and Youth, Mr Isaac Danladi disclosed this during Dr Dozie’s Super Kitty held at Lafia Golf Club.

Danladi said Lafia Golf Club has the potential of increasing the internally generated revenue of Nasarawa in line with governor Sule’s drive to industrialize and diversify economy of the State.

The Permanent Secretary said the state government under the leadership of Gov Abdullahi Sule was committed to developing sports sector and making it viable for old and young people.

“The government of Governor Sule place high premium on sport, and that is why you can see Nasarawa United, Nasarawa Amazon and other sporting activities are doing well in the state,” he said.

Danladi said the government would not rest on its effort in providing adequate security to reduce the rate of crime and criminality in the state to ensure sports activities thrive in the state.

On his part, Mlanga John, the Captain of Lafia Golf Club, represented by his deputy Akin Ogidi, said the club is consolidating and surpassing the previous years records.

He promised to partner with the government in every possible way to take sporting activities particularly Golf into enviable position in the state.

The captain applauded Dr Chidozie Adiudkwu for organizing Kitty for Lafia Golf Club, noting that the club appreciated the support received from him while he was in a far away Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to Journalist, Dr Chidozie Adiudkwu, while thanking the members of the club, friends and dignitary, said he would continue to support the club in whatever capacity he could offer.

“Lafia has formed part of me, I felt I should give back, as my friends decided to honour me, and this has created a template for golfers from far and wide who come to Lafia and celebrate with me,” he said.

Prizes were won in the event; Bernard Attah won the best gross, Umar Haruna clinched the best net of of 66.

In the women category Ruth Marem won the best gross, Dorcas Malle went home with a gross of 67, Tony Effa won the gross of 97, and Sangarin Dedere, Balarebe Muhammad got the gross of 69 respectively.
