Nasarawa Government Trains 400 Youths On various Entrepreneurship Skills

Nasarawa State government has trained over 400 youths on enterprenuership and employable skills.
This was disclosed by Habiba Balarabe Suleiman, Director General, Human Capital Development Agency at a job fair for graduates of the programme in Lafia, the state capital.
The training was conducted by the Human Capital Development Agency in collaboration with Oxfam Nigeria and Poise Graduate Finishing Academy.
The training programme which is in phases was the culmination of talks between the state human capital development agency and Oxfam Nigeria on the sideline of Lagos State employment summit in 2019.
Speaking at the job fair and graduation ceremony for the 2023 Employability and Entrepreneurship training programme, Governor Abdullahi Sule, commended the management of the agency and the partners for the programme which he said, has succeed in building the capacity of the youths and curb restiveness among them, while also reducing over dependence on government as well as boost the state’s economy.
Governor Sule, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Aliyu Tijjani, called on the beneficiaries to always make the state proud wherever they find themselves, even as he urged them to put the training to productive use for the benefit of themselves, families and the state at large.
He assured of the state government’s commitment to continue to provide an enabling environment for youths in the state in order to explore their potentials.
Also speaking at the occasion, Habiba Balarabe-Suleiman, explained that beneficiaries were trained in Business Plan Writing, Customer Service Excellence, Marketing Strategy, Business and Personal Finance Management, among others.
‘The 2023 Employability and Entrepreneurship training programme is the fourth and final edition. Since we started in the year 2020, the programme has been successful because of the determination of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration to engage youths positively.
“During these four years, the beneficiaries have been impacted with 21st century skills, and quite a number of them have gained employment and started their own businesses.
“Most of them got loans from the state government, and they are doing well in their respective endeavours. So, we do not just train the graduates, we also help them to succeed in every way possible,” she explained.
