Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has fulfilled his promise as he donated a fully finished office complex to facilitate the smooth takeoff of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).

Gov Sule, while speaking during the handover of the office complex in Lafia, said it was in fulfillment of his commitment toward the smooth takeoff of the commission.

The governor also pledged to offer temporary housing accommodation for the Board members and the management of the commission to quickly settle down and commence operation.

Sule expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for establishing the commission, and also appreciated members of the National Assembly for ensuring that the law for creating the commission was passed in both Chambers.

Sule who is also the Chairman of the North Central Governors’ Forum thanked his colleagues from the zone for coming together to facilitate the smooth takeoff of the commission

“All the governors and members of the National Assembly from the zone will meet with you in Abuja on Thursday, 18, to see how we can all support you with logistics for a smooth take off.

“We want to work together and own the commission collectively to avoid any faction as witnessed in other places,” Gov. Sule added.

In his remarks, Cosmas Akighir, Chairman of the commission appreciated the governor for the donation of the office complex as their headquarters.

Akighir said that the office was befitting and was fully finished with facilities and water for their comfort and that of their staff.

He, however, appealed that the commission would need some vehicles for their operational efficiency as they were still grappling with an annual budget.

Similarly, Dr Cyril Tsenyil, Managing Director of NCDC, said that the gesture justified why some persons were happy when the headquarters of the commission was sited in Lafia by the president.

“Apart from giving us a temporary office facility to use as a licensing office in Abuja, you have today fulfilled your promise to hand over to us a fully furnished office complex which will serve as the headquarters of NCDC.

“As we settle down to business, I want to assure you that we will collaborate with all governors and other stakeholders in the zone to improve the infrastructure and living conditions of our people,” he said.

The MD appreciated the president for the confidence reposed in them and promised to discharge their duties with the fear of God to bridge the developmental gaps in the zone.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Dr Labaran Magaji, said the handover of the edifice was in line with the commitment made by Gov. Sule at the inauguration of the Commission in Abuja.

“In complementing the effort of the Federation Government, to ensure that this commission takes off almost immediately, Gov Sule constantly made a commitment to give them an office accommodation.

“Your Excellency, you have seen today, the entire refurbishment and renovation that put the edifice into proper perspective for the immediate takeoff of the commission as you directed.
