Nasarawa Governor, Sule hails journalists for supporting his administration

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State said his administration has recorded tremendous achievements in the last four years due to the mutually beneficial synergy between the government and the members of the press in the state.

This is contained in a congratulatory message personally signed by the governor and delivered by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Adra to Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa state Council on Monday in Lafia, on his reelection.

Governor Sule advocated for inclusive and people-oriented approach in ensuring that accountability, transparency, democracy and freedom of the press have a place in the delivery of government’s policies and programmes to the people.

He assures the new NUJ leadership in the state of his total support and partnership to improve practice of the noble profession for the overall growth and development of the society.

“This feat, the first of its kind accomplished during the triennial elective convention of the council, is an eloquent testimony of your purposeful and focused leadership in the last tenure.

“I noted with satisfaction the that prevailed in the council under your watch, I must also not fail to once again acknowledge the support of the vibrant members of the NUJ to my administration since assumption as Governor.

“Your support has spurred us to achieve a lot in our quest to develop the state while giving our people the opportunity to maximize benefits from our God given potentials,” Sule said.

He called for sustained synergy with members of the pen profession, tasking them to remain professional to duty and supportive to the government for the collective interest of the state.

Comrade Alkali appreciated the government for recognising the essential efforts of the council in the development of the society, expressing his support to the government “in line with the founding thrust and professional practice of journalism”.

He charged the governor to be accountable and responsive to the people’s expectations at all times,
noting that he was ready for effective collaboration.

Alkali, however, reminded the government of its pledge for the renovation of the NUJ secretariat and provision of vehicle to ease the administration in the state.
