Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has urged eligible citizens of the state to leverage the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) to get registered massively ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sule made the appeal at the flag-off sensitisation/Voters Education on the INEC’S CVR organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lafia.
The sensitisation/ voters education was organised to mark two years in office of Dr Aliyu Bello, state APC Chairman and Secretary, Dr Yairus Dagusa.
According to the governor, Nasarawa State is among the states that are under registered as published by the INEC chart, noting that the only way to correct this is to seize the opportunity to get registered.
“The Governor has given us all the support that we require citizens of the state to go out to register irrespective of their political parties, come 2027, that is what we will use as our weapon.
“In 2027, from the State House of Assembly to the National Assembly, and to the governor, as far as Nasarawa State is concerned, APC will win all. The only way we can achieve that is to go out and register,” he emphasised.
Gov Sule, represented by his Deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, used the occasion to extol Dr Bello’s leadership quality and his contributions to the Nasarawa state politics.
Sule urged the party members to remain loyal to the party and its leadership, noting that loyalty pays.
“I must say today about our chairman, Aliyu Bello, since I have known him in the realm of politics, he is somebody that must be respected when it comes to talking about politics in Nasarawa State.
“He is a political juggernaut, he is fearless, he is somebody that can tell you the truth to your face. Such people are rare, we have a rare gem in Aliyu Bello.
“Since he took over the leadership of our great party, there’s a great difference, inclusiveness, and outspokenness. Our party has come to stay, it is an envy of all parties in Nasarawa State,” Sule stated.
Also speaking, Mr Danladi Jatau, Speaker, Nasarawa State Assembly, congratulated Dr Bello and party officials on their second anniversary in office, saying that he has shown great leadership by uniting the party.
The Speaker, while reaffirming the state assembly’s continuous support for the state Government and the party, urged eligible citizens to take advantage of the CVR campaign and get registered.
Dr Aliyu Bello, Nasarawa State APC Chairman, expressed gratitude to God for granting the party leadership successful outings in the last two years in office.
He said that the CVR sensitisation would be taken to the 13 local government areas of the state to boost registration.
“We must imbibe the spirit of
unity so that we can have a successful outing in 2027. The victory we have desired in 2027 cannot be achieved without voter registration because your vote is your weapon, so go and register today,” he said.
He appealed for support to enable the party to carry out renovation of its office building and the installation of solar energy to reduce the cost of running the office on a generator.
Dr Yairus Dagusa, APC Secretary, while highlighting the party’s achievements, said Aliyu Bello’s leadership has repositioned the party in the last two years through reconciliatory efforts and brought about several heavyweight politicians to join the APC.
Mr Safiyanu Andaha, Chairman of the Association of All Local Governments Chairmen in Nasarawa State, while congratulating the leadership of the party, pledged to mobilise people at the grassroots to leverage the ongoing CVR to get registered.
Mrs Esther Alu, Zonal Women Leader, North Central, while applauding the leadership of the party under Aliyu Bello, made a case for women to serve as deputy governor, speaker, and deputy chairman to give them a sense of belonging.
