Nasarawa North senator-elect assures of popular laws

Mr Godiya Akwashiki, the APC senator-elect for Nasarawa North, Nasarawa State, has assured his constituents of pursuing people oriented laws at the National Assembly.
Akwashiki told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sidelines of the celebration of his victory at his Angba Iggah country home on Thursday, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state.
He said: “I will push for popular bills in order to better the standard of living of my constituency and the country at large.’’
Akwashiki, who is currently the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, dedicated his victory to God and the people of the senatorial district who voted him on Feb. 23.
The lawmaker, who represent Nasarawa Eggon West state constituency, also promised to carry everybody along irrespective of their affiliations.
“I am happy and delighted for the support and votes of the people of my senatorial district.
“Leadership is ordained by God. I am grateful to the electorate for the confidence they have on me by voting me massively during the election.
“My wish for everybody that came here to celebrate with me over my victory is God protection and guidance.
“I want to assure all the stakeholders; community leaders, youths, women, among others, of quality representation in order to bring the much needed dividend of democracy to their door step.
“Good polices is my agenda so that I will change the lives of Nigerians positively,” the senator-elect said.
Akwashiki also assured his people of purposeful and sound legislation at the red chamber.
He solicited the support of the people of the constituency to enable him succeed at the National Assembly.
The senator-elect urged his supporters and other Nigerians to continue to conduct themselves peacefully, be law abiding and respect constituted authorities in the interest of development.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that different groups across the senatorial district, including Akwashiki campaign organisation paid him a congratulatory visit.
NAN recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Akwashiki as winner after polling 54,104 to defeat PDP’s John Abdul who scored 48,133 votes. (NAN)
