The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State said it is ready to redeem the state from the All Progressives Congress (APC) misrule and picked Yahaya Usman-Ohinoyi as running mate to its governorship candidate, Hon Emmanuel Umbugadu.
Yahaya Usman-Ohinoyi who hails from Nasarawa West Senatorial District, was a two-term Member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, representing Umaisha/Ugya state constituency in Toto Local Government.
Speaking, the Nasarawa State PDP Chairman, Francis Orogu said the choice of the running mate was done after due consultation with all critical stakeholders of the party.
Orogu said with the announcement of the running mate, the party is sure of defeating the APC in the 2023 general elections.
Also, the Nasarawa State governorship candidate of the PDP, Mr Emmanuel Umbugadu, while speaking at a meeting with the State Working Committee (SWC) members of the party in Lafia, the state capital, said the party zoned the position of a running mate to Nasarawa West Senatorial district after due consultation with all the relevant organs of the party.
Umbugadu said the choice of the running mate is one of the strategies to ensure victory at the 2023 polls.
Umbugadu, a two-term House of Representatives Member, who served as the candidate of the PDP in 2019, said he has all it takes to transform the state.
He listed his scorecard while at the House of Representatives of Akwanga/Nasarawa-Eggon/Wamba federal constituency to includes; drilling of over 1,500 boreholes, trained over 600 youths in different skills, and registered over 25, 000 persons on National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Others are; 18 Primary Healthcare Centres, rural electrification and installation of transformers among others to communities across the zone.
Umbugadu insisted that the PDP in Nasarawa State is united adding that they will work hard to rescue the state from maladministration.
Meanwhile, the G13 PDP Houths Front has congratulated Hon Usman Yahaya Oyinoyi of Toto Local Government Council for his emagerce as the PDP gubernatorial running mate.
A statement issued by their leader, Abba Muhammad, said Yahaya has shown so much pedigree while in the state house of assembly adding that it will help at ensuring victory for the PDP in 2023.
“Sir, your choice didn’t come to us as a surprise because of your pedigree which you have shown during and after your tenure as a member house of the assembly .
“We equally want to appreciate the awaiting Governor, His Excellency Rtd Honourable David Emmanuel Umbugadu (PhD) for this wonderful choice.
“We want to reatreate our total support. We also salute Hon Francis Orogu and his team for their courage to the actualization of our goal, ” Muhammad added.
