The Member representing Akwanga/Wamba/Nasarawa Eggon Federal Constituency of Nasarawa State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jeremiah Umaru has empowered no fewer than 250 constituents with refrigerators, sewing machines, grinding machines and distributed over 1000 bags of 50 kg of rice for sallah celebration across the 35 electoral wards of his constituency.

Umaru, while speaking during the distribution in Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, explained that five persons were carefully selected from each of the electoral wards and the remaining 75 slots were allocated to stakeholders and community leaders to appreciate them for their votes, support, and prayers in the last one year.

He said the beneficiaries were cut across political parties in the constituency, noting that similar empowerment was given to constituents in the past to support their farming and trading to better their lives.

“Though I’m a member of APC, as it stands I’m representing everyone in my constituency, and my major interest is to better the living standards of my constituents irrespective of political party affiliations,” he added.

“I have sponsored 10 bills and moved eight motions in the last year in addition to the empowerment items we are bringing to our people.

“Some of the bills had passed first reading already, and if they are finally passed and signed into law by the President, commercial activities and life generally will be better for our people.

“My focus is to change the narrative and give my constituents the quality representation they deserve to justify their choice at the polls,” he added.

The lawmaker therefore urged the beneficiaries not to sell the items, but to use them for businesses to better their lives and families.

Some beneficiaries who spoke to newsmen appreciated the lawmaker for the gesture and prayed to God to continue to protect him.

Hussaini Alaku and Hanatu Sunday from Nasarawa-Eggon thanked the legislator for prioritizing the welfare of constituents.

“He is carrying everybody in the constituency along without discriminating based on political parties as such, we will reward him at the appropriate time,” they said.
