Nasarawa set to host 5th Education Sector Games – Commissioner

The Nasarawa State Government has reaffirmed its administration commitment of a level playing ground and a conducive environment for the athletes and contingents who are going to participate in the forthcoming 5th edition of the Federal Education Sector Games (FEDUGAM), slated to hold in Lafia, from August 4th-10th, 2025.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Kwanta Yakubu, made the disclosure while receiving a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, who were in the state as part of preparations for the national sporting event.

Kwanta, who expressed the state’s readiness to deliver a successful tournament, recalling the state’s impressive hosting of the event in 2017.

He, however, applauded the Federal Government for once again selecting Nasarawa state as host, reiterating the state government unwavering support for a smooth and successful outing.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Ministry of youth and sports development, Eche Amos and obtained by our correspondent in Lafia, the state capital.

Our correspondent also reports that the commissioner officially received the two-man delegation led by FEDUGAM Consultant, Chief Okeyinka Matthew, and his Technical Assistant, Comrade Anthony Okoro.

According to the visiting team, their mission was to assess and fine-tune preparations ahead of the 5th edition of the Federal Education Sector Games, which is scheduled to hold from August 4 to 10, 2025, in Lafia.

Our correspondent also reports that the tournament will feature participation from fifteen Federal Education Sector agencies competing in various sporting events.

To mark the visit, the delegation presented souvenir kits to the Commissioner, symbolizing the endorsement of the tournament by the host state.

Similar kits were also presented to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, as well as other senior directors.

It will be recalled that the fourth edition of FEDUGAM was successfully hosted by Bauchi State Government in 2024.
