The coalition of youth groups under the umbrella of Nasarawa Patriotic Youth Alliance (NAPYA) has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) and stakeholders to waive the zoning arrangement for the 2027 Governorship election.

The group also begged the former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr Silas Agara to heed their call and other stakeholders to accept to contest for the 2027 governorship seat.

Comrade Ochepo Jude – Osewu, the Coordinator of the group made the call at a Town Hall meeting held at the Evergreen Hotel in Lafia.

According to the group, a zoning arrangement waiver will bring about a competent candidate who will consolidate on the achievements of the APC-led Government under the leadership of Gov Abdullahi Sule.

The group, therefore urged Dr Silas Agara who is also the director general of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to contest for the governorship seat in 2027.

Jude- Osewu explained that the call was necessary given his impressive credentials in governance, leadership and community development.

“The entire people of Nasarawa State, from all 13 local government areas during our local government town hall meetings and grassroots engagement with the people, unanimously agree and humbly request you to consider running for the office of Governor during the 2027 general election.

“As a pragmatic leader who has served Nasarawa State and Nigeria since 2003, we all believe you possess the necessary qualities to lead the state to greater heights.

“We acknowledge your leadership qualities, vision, and commitment to our state’s development which tally with our beliefs and ideology, and we believe you have the potential to bring positive change we so much desire,” he said.

The group coordinator said the people of Nasarawa State acknowledged Agara’s records as an astute administrator and his contributions to the successes of various administrations in Nasarawa State.

Having served as Commissioner, Special Adviser, and Deputy Governor under Governors Abdullahi Adamu (2003-2007), Aliyu Akwe Doma (2007-2009), and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura (2011-2019).

He highlighted various contributions of Agara in the Agricultural sector, education, vocational training and youth empowerment, community development, healthcare, and employment among others.

“Agara’s approach to politics and governance is devoid of ethnic and religious considerations, this was demonstrated by the fair distribution of resources and empowerment across all boards, faiths and creeds.

“As a successful entrepreneur who understands the importance of investments in agriculture, real estate, and hospitality, his expertise could drive economic growth in Nasarawa State which the people are highly optimistic about.

“These initiatives and policies demonstrate his potential as a preferred candidate for Governor of Nasarawa State as echoed by the entire people of Nasarawa State, highlighting his dedication to the state’s development and the welfare of his people,” he said.
