Ayuba Hassan, Convener of North-East APC youth forum

As the race for the national chairmanship of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) hots up, members of the Coalition of North-East Groups have thrown their weight behind the aspiration of former Governor of Benue state, Sen George Akume.
The group under the aigies of North-East APC Groups declared support for Senator George Akume after its meeting held in Bauchi on Thursday declaring that among those who have indicated interest in the race, George Akume beats them all considering his political antecedent.
Convener of the group, Ayuba Hassan while briefing news men after the meeting said that the Coalition of North-East APC Groups is a conglomeration of all the registered notable groups within the All Progressive Congress support groups and organizations in Bauchi, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba states with over two million members under the watch of Convener, State Coordinators, Government Liaison Officers, Ward Ambassadors and Unit canvassers.
He further explained that the Coalition was collectively formed and cut across the North-East APC Youth Stakeholders across the six states of the zone.
Ayuba Hassan added that the group is engaged in campaign to unite the party members and promote justice, fairness and good Governance in line with the APC Constitution and ensure the success of our great party beyond 2023.
He then declared that, “After extensive deliberations and addressing pressing issues affecting the party and made assessment ahead of the National Convention 2021, we unanimously agreed and endorsed His Excellency Sen. Dr. George Akume as National Chairman of the APC”.
He gave reason for their endorsement of George Akume saying, “because of his wealth of experience as a former Governor of Benue state for 8 years, 3 term Senator and served as minority leader in the Senate and Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is the most qualified for the number one office of the APC.
“We are calling on all APC card carrying members across the country to support George Akume ahead of the 2021 APC National Convention so that he will continue to bring more innovative ideas for the benefit of the party and Nigerians”, Ayuba Hassan added.
He expressed confidence that George Akume’s candidacy will be easy to sell to members of the party because according to him, “he is a man of the people, a politician who knows his worth and friendly to everyone across the country. We know that what we are doing is a worthy venture”.
