NCDC MD attends launch of Presidential Safe Nigeria Initiative

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, FCNA, was among distinguished guests at the launch of the Presidential Safe Nigeria Initiative, a humanitarian youth skills empowerment programme for peace and resilience, held at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The initiative, organised by the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser, in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, is aimed at empowering youths to enhance safety and security, particularly at the grassroots level.
Dr. Tsenyil’s participation at the event underscores the priority the NCDC places on addressing insecurity, rebuilding communities, and restoring hope to citizens affected by conflict and violence across the North Central region and beyond.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, who was represented by a Senior Special Assistant, described the initiative as a timely intervention that will help tackle insecurity through the empowerment of vulnerable groups and communities, while also supporting rehabilitation and poverty reduction efforts.
Also speaking, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to supporting victims of insecurity through structured rehabilitation and empowerment programmes, noting that this informed the significance of the initiative.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Hon. Delu Bulus Yakubu, stated that the initiative will be implemented across all parts of the country, with a focus on empowering youths to rebuild, rehabilitate, and rebound within their communities.
In his remarks, Major General Adamu Garba Laka, Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, who represented the National Security Adviser, noted that insecurity remains a major national challenge that must be addressed holistically.
He emphasized the need to boost youth capacity through positive skill acquisition, improved livelihoods, and enhanced community resilience.
