NCDC MD, others inaugurated into regional development core working group

The Managing Director of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, alongside the Executive Director, Corporate Services, Mr. James Uloko, has been inaugurated as members of the Core Working Group on Regional Development.

The inauguration took place in Abuja and was performed by the Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari, who explained that the Core Working Group was constituted following resolutions reached at the High-Level Stakeholders’ Engagement on Regional Development held last month.

Alhaji Maigari charged members of the Core Working Group to work diligently towards building synergy and creating platforms for effective linkages that will drive regional development in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He emphasized the need to strengthen institutions, stimulate inclusive growth, and articulate other critical elements that will shape the national roadmap for Regional Development Commissions.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Regional Development, Dr. Mary Ogbe who is the Chairman, noted that the Core Working Group is vital for addressing Nigeria’s development challenges through coordinated regional development efforts.

She stressed the importance of removing operational bottlenecks while ensuring coherence and effective coordination among the commissions.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Regional Development Programmes, Dr. Mariam Masha, Co-Chair, said the establishment of the Core Working Group will significantly enhance the implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by providing a structured framework for executing regional development initiatives.

In separate goodwill messages, the UN Resident Humanitarian Coordinator for Nigeria, Mr. Mohammad Malick Fall, UNICEF Country Representative, Ms. Wafaa Saeed Abdellatef, and UNDP Representative, Ms. Elsie Attafuah, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the realization of the vision behind the establishment of the Regional Development Commissions.

They pledged continued partnership as development partners through the provision of data, technical expertise, development financing, institutional capacity building, advisory services, and other policy support measures.
