NCDC seeks partnership with NITDA on digital transformation, regional development

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, has led the Management team of the Commission on a working visit to the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in Abuja, where they met with the Agency’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi and his management team.

Dr. Tsenyil said the visit aligns with the Commission’s strategic plan to harness Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a catalyst for economic growth, security enhancement, human capital development and industrialisation across the North Central region.

He described ICT as a central driver of a modern digital economy, noting that the Commission is prioritising the establishment of an ICT Innovation Hub aimed at building skills, supporting startups, expanding digital literacy and creating new economic opportunities for young people in the region.

The NCDC CEO said the Commission is eager to partner with NITDA in order to leverage its experience, national ICT frameworks and infrastructure.

He appealed for the Agency’s support as the Commission lays the foundation for technology-driven development programmes that will impact communities across the North Central zone.

In his remarks, NITDA Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, congratulated the NCDC leadership for the progress made since its establishment and encouraged them to make the necessary sacrifices to build a strong and enduring institution.

He described ICT as a trillion-dollar global enterprise and reaffirmed NITDA’s commitment to collaborating with the Commission, especially in areas of connectivity, data hosting, digital infrastructure, and youth-focused innovation.

The NITDA DG further proposed the formation of a joint working group to deepen engagement and fast-track specific areas of partnership between the two organisations.

The visit marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration aimed at unlocking the digital potential of the North Central region and accelerating sustainable development through technology.
