The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disassociated itself from The Guardian newspaper publication on alleged deductions from students’ loan in some universities.

The publication, dated April 29, 2025, has as headline “51 Varsities, Others Embroiled in Illegal Deductions from Students’ Loans.”

This was contained in a statement by Mr Akintunde Sawyerr, Managing Director/CE
NELFUND.

He pointed out that for the avoidance of doubt, NELFUND was neither consulted for the report nor did it provide any data, comment, or contribution to the publication in question.

It stated that the Fund unequivocally disassociates itself from the said article and any inferences that suggest it involvement.

According to the statement, all official information regarding NELFUND activities will continue to be disseminated through
verified and authorized communication channels.

It urged the media and the public to verify any information relating to NELFUND through its official platforms to avoid the spread of misinformation.
