NEMA distributes relief materials to victims of Zangon Kataf attacks

Crisis ridden communities especially in Atyap Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna state were called for forgiveness on every side, and put humanity above tribal, religious and political considerations which would ensure quick resolution of the crisis.

Member representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Amos Gwamna Magaji stated at Agwatyap Palace during a flag-off of the distribution of relief materials to displaced victims of recent attacks in Southern Kaduna donated by National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), facilitated by the lawmaker.

The lawmaker, who condemned renewed attacks on communities, said 300 houses were burnt down in the past two weeks, a situation, said what is happening in the area is truly disheartening and painful.

He sympathised with the family that has lost houses, businesses and even their loved ones, noting that the items are meant to mitigate the suffering of the displaced victims in the area.

He also tasked communities in the area on the need to always be on guard and report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies.

In his remarks, the Northwest Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Imam Abbani Garki, sympathized with victims of the attacks and sued for peace to ensure sustainable development in the area.

Garki listed the items donated to include 800 bags of rice; 800 bags of beans, 800 bags of maize, 200 kegs of vegetable oil, and 200 cartons of tin tomatoes.

Others were 300 pieces of mattresses; 200 bundles of roofing sheet, 200 bags of cement and 11 packets of nails.

Also speaking, the Agwatyap, Dominic Gambo Yahaya who was represented by Simon Saddih, commended the lawmaker and NEMA for coming to the aid of his people in their hour of need.

Yahaya cautioned the beneficiaries against selling the relief materials, urging them to use the items for the purpose for which they were given.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Bulus Makarau thanked the Rep Member and NEMA for having their interest at heart.

He called on the government to bring solutions to the Southern Kaduna crisis and protect their citizens.

Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State have come under relentless attacks in recent times, which have left scores dead and several persons displaced.
