New emirates: Kano appoints emirs for Bichi, Karaye, Rano, Gaya
Kano emir Sanusi II has his powers cut by Governor Ganduje
Following division of Kano Emirate into four thereby reducing the power and influence of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, Kano State Government has appointed Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the Emir of Bichi Emirate, one of the newly created emirates.
Besides, the government confirmed the upgrading of three district heads of Karaye, Rano and Gaya to first class emirs for their respective emirates.
Kano State Commissioner of Information and a former National President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Malam Muhammad Garba said the new emirs will be given instrument of authority on Saturday at Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium, Kano.
Bayero was the Wamban Kano, a position given to him by the present Emir of Kano after promoting the former Wambai, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi to Galadima following the death of late Galadiman Kano, Tijjani Hashim.
Other emirs upgraded for the new emirates are district heads of Sarkin Karaye Alhaji Tafida Abubakar ll, Sarkin Gaya Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya and Dr Ibrahim Abubakar ll.
