Though it was the inauguration of the newly elected executives of the FCT chapter of the All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria (AFAN), the hall of the Cyprian Ekwensi Cultural Centre in Abuja was really majestic for the occasion.
The arrangements of the seats, the gally dressed executives, guests, the welcoming ambience and the musical interlude were perfect.
After the swearing in formalities of the 29-member strong executive, the newly sworn in Chairman, Hon. Ifraimu Dauda assured of FCT AFAN chapter attaining greater heights during his administration.
According to him, he looks forward to adding value and building AFAN to a greater height by encouraging farmers to put in their combined efforts and with other organisations give every farmer a stress-free farming experience with enhanced opportunities.
Hon. Dauda noted that though it might not be immediate, FCT AFAN intends to work together in a harmony to proffer solution to challenges facing farmers.

He explained that they would tackle these challenges one after another and create a more amiable environment for the farmer and the society in general.
As such, the chairman encouraged farmers all over the FCT to register under the organization in order to get relevant information that are effective and potential to the growth and development of their future.
He pointed out that the registration is one of the major goals of farmers across Nigeria and FCT chapter intends to continue on this direction to help farmers access necessary information that can boost and improve the lives.
Hon. Dauda noted that in all area farmers require more enlightenment ranging from purchasing farming inputs such as fertilizer, seedlings, pesticides, tools and equipment that will improve their wellbeing.
Besides, he said AFAN also intend to help farmers to selling their produce directly to customers and also processors to enhanced profits.
The chairman pointed out that every farmer’s dream is to be able to receive guidelines and have access to facilitate opportunity that can grow and encourage them.
In this regard, he said, FCT AFAN intends to partner with more organisations, maintain existing the good relationships with loyal partners to enable a stress-free experience by creating diverse opportunity to encourage the local farmer and also facilitate aspiring ones to be part of agriculture as a way of not just earning a living but also self-employment and boost the economy.
The National Director of Administration, AFAN, Chief Agbaji Chinedu said at the national level the organization is making sure the life of the farmer has improved.
Noting that the farmer is king, Chief Chinedu pointed out that farming has moved from agriculture to agric-business and all those involved in the value-chain are considered farmers.
