New political pressure group, Rebuild Arewa Initiative for Development emerges

A new political pressure group known as Rebuild Arewa Initiative for Development (RAID) has been formed with the aim of bringing positive impact in the Socio-Economic and Political equations of Northern Nigeria as another catalyst for development.

The Association compromises of all the Nineteen States of the North including FCT to among others: Campaign and advocate for National Unity and Cohesion, foster socio-economic development in region and bring humanitarian interventions to the vulnerable people and promote inter-religious co-existence amongst people of the region and Nigeria at large.

The group drew its members from various trades of human endeavors who are experts and professional in that regards.

These professionals are from the fields of security, law, education, agriculture, business and politics among others.

At its first Special General Meeting held in Abuja, the Initiative elected the individuals who will serve as executives for a period of five years with the option of renewal for another year:

Those elected are: Comrade Balarabe Rufai – President; Ambassador Dr. Sherif Modu – Vice President; Dr. Salisu Nani Zigau – Secretary/Legal Advisor; Mustapha Mohammed – Assistant Secretary and
Comrade Abubakar Umar Bitako – Publicity Secretary.

Others are Mr Godwin Emmanuel – Financial Secretary; Fatima Adamu – Treasurer; Hon Brisca Aaron Joram – Welfare Secretary; Abubakar Sadiq – Organizational Secretary and Miss Christiana Usi Peter -Assistant Organising Secretary

Alhaji Mohammed Babayo Maina, Hon. Hamidu S. Ghani and Dr Musa Balarabe were elected as Ex-Officio.

The group also elected coordinators to include: North East – Samaila Ayuba Afarami, North West – Ibrahim Mohammed; North Central – Barrister Ruben Acka; South – Alhaji Yakubu Aliyu and Abuja Liaison Officer – Engineer Yakubu Buba.

Also elected are for Directorate of Intergovernmental Affairs – Barrister Abdullahi Baba Toro; ICT – Alhaji Faisal Sadiq; Political Affairs – Hon Ibrahim Mohammed; Humanitarian Affairs – Hon. Esther Hezekiah Dimka; Economic Development – Abdulkadir Ibrahim Gaya; Women, Youth and Disability – Miss Ozigis Mohammed Nimat and Media- Alhaji Ali Abubakar Sadik.

A press release by Dr Salisu Nani Zigau, Secretary and Comrade Abubakar Umar Bitako, spokesperson of the group, says the appointments take effect immediately.
