Ethnic nationalities in Plateau State are lending their voices to the recent killings of Mwaghavul people of Mangu Local Government Area of the state, as the Ngas nation is calling for a halt in what they described as “genocide.”
According to a statement, issued by the Ngas Development Association, (NDA), the state government and its security agencies must take proactive steps to halt the ongoing genocide aimed at ethnic cleansing in the state.
In the statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Nde Wika Gofwen, the association want the government to also bring the perpetrators to face the wrath of the law and install necessary measures to forestall future occurrence in the Plateau State.
The statement noted that “It is unthinkable and disheartening to hear as well as witness how innocent souls are wasted for no reason”.
They described as unfortunate the killings in communities across Mangu Local Government Area of the state, by blood thirsty hoodlums alleged to be Fulani militias.
“The National Association of Ngas Development Association, NDA, on behalf of the Ngas Nation, joined forces with the good people of Plateau State in expressing sadness and displeasure with the wanton destruction of properties and killing of innocent lives across communities in Mangu LGA.
“The Ngas Nation, therefore, commiserates with the Mangu Traditional and Local Government Councils and the people of Mangu on this sad and despicable incident.
“We equally identify and sympathize with our brothers and sisters in Riyom and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas as well as communities in Plateau State who are experiencing similar unfortunate incidences” the statement added.
While sympathizing with families who have lost loved ones and properties in the coordinated attacks, they appealed for calm and pray God to grant Plateau State the desired peace.
