NGO constructs, donates culvert to Gidan Hali, Chawai in Kaduna State

A Non Governmental Organization, ‘When In Need Foundation’ has constructed and donated a culvert to Gidan Hali village of Chawai Chiefdom in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the culvert, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the NGO, Mrs Chetachi Ecton Dikko said the gesture was her way of reaching out to communities in dire need of such basic amenities.

She said it was her passion to not only come to the aid of the needy but to also improve on their well being.

In his speech, the traditional ruler of Chawai, Res-Tsam, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed expressed gratitude to the Founder and Chief Executive of the NGO for the culvert, saying the affected community will now heave a sigh of relief.

The Royal father said over time, the absence of the culvert had posed a threat to lives of the affected villagers, especially during the rainy season.

Later during a meeting of prominent members of the Chawai community, the Res-Tsam conferred a traditional title of ‘Uwar Soro’ on the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the NGO, Mrs Dikko.

Similarly, the Kafanchan Unit of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), under Kaduna State Council also presented an Award to the Founder of the NGO as the ‘Female Philanthropist of the year 2021’.

‘When In Need Foundation’ is well known in Southern Kaduna State for its humanitarian activities including skill acquisition training, distribution of clothing, distribution of rice, soya beans, yams and Okro seedlings, encouragement of dry season farming, and construction of culverts among others.
