Nasarawa Governor, Engineer Sule presents a to a beneficiary

The Federal Government Friday, flagged off disbursement of cash grant for the vulnerable groups in Nasarawa state.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, disaster management and social development Sadiya Umar Farouk, stated this at the official flag off of the grant and launch of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) at the city hall Lafia the Nasarawa state chapter on Friday.
The minister who was represented by the Director disaster management, Dr. Abubakar Suleiman said the intervention was meant to uplift the most less privilege and vulnerable citizens nation wide, and urged the beneficiaries to invest the money judiciously.
According to her, ” The cash grant to vulnerable groups as well as the GEEP were part of the federal government’s National Social Investment Programme.
“The cash grant for rural women is designed to provide one off grant for N20,000 to poorest and most vulnerable in rural areas and semi-Urban areas across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
“About 1,142,783 potential beneficiaries were registered across the 774 local government areas of the country, of which 25,000 potential beneficiaries were from Nasarawa state scattered across the 13 LGAs of the state.”

Sadiya Umar Farouk said the programme had targeted more than 3,000 beneficiaries across the 13 LGAs in Nasarawa state for the disbursement of the cash grant.
In his speech, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state thanked the President for giving Nasarawa state opportunity to benefit from all the social intervention programme.
He equally commended the ministry for exhibiting exemplary leadership which has contributed to the successes that the state have been recorded in the implementation of the various Intervention programme in the state.
“This is no doubt enhance the leaving condition of the people of the state. And I assured you for our support in our collective commitment to touch the lives of our people.
Earlier in his speech, the focal person, National Social Investment Programme (N-SIP) in Nasarawa state, Imran Usman Jibrin said the programme focuses on ensuring a more equitable distributions of resources to vulnerable populations, including children, youth and women.
“Since 2016, these programmes combined have supported about 20 million direct and indirect beneficiaries country-wide through a fair and transparent processes of implementations.” He said
Imran Usman Jibrin however, lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for initiating programmes that touched the lives of the poor and the vulnerable in society. Just as he appreciated governor Abdullahi Sule for being passionate about the implementation of the programme in the state.
