Nigeria needs improvement in time management— Don
A university don from Nile University of Nigeria has called on Nigerians to improve on their time management for the development of the country.
Prof. Kemal Ozden, Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies of the university made this known at the school’s 2019 Career Development Seminar in Abuja on Saturday.
Ozden, who spoke on the topic ‘Time Management’, said Nigeria needed urgent reformation in time management to achieve greater deal.
“Nigeria needs some improvement in time management particularly for the leadership.
“Actually the time piece in Nigeria runs quickly. What I experienced in Nigeria is that their time come quickly. So Nigeria needs urgent reformation for time.
“Nigeria also need urgent recovery to improve her capacity for leadership and this must be urgent,” he said.
He added that time management was also of essence in the education of students and must therefore be taken seriously.
Dr Ahmed Adamu, who spoke on the topic ‘Leadership and Learning to Learn’, stressed the importance of leadership in influencing positive roles.
Adamu urged Nigerian leaders to set targets that would enable the country to compete favourable with other countries of the world.
A participant, Mr Daniel Adejo, said the seminar was timely as it taught about the effective use of time in daily lives.
“The seminar is an eye opener and it has made me to be a better person.
“One of the problems we are having as a country is how to manage our time. For example, if you go to an occasion, you find out that events don’t start at the time fixed for it.
“This is a wrong thing to be done as it has become an African time syndrome. So, we need to change this scourge for national development,” he said. (NAN)
