By Akpan David, Calabar

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) will host the maiden edition of National Police Day on April 7, 2025, at Eagle Square, Abuja.

According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the event will span April 2 to April 7, 2025, featuring a series of humanitarian and community-based initiatives.

According to his statement these activities include medical outreaches, community engagements, exhibitions by security companies and partners, among other programmes designed to strengthen police-community relations.

It will be recalled that the establishment of National Police Day was officially declared by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on April 19, 2024, during the Nigeria Police Award and Commendation Ceremony in Abuja.

The FPRO explained that the  annual observance aims to honor the dedication, sacrifices, and achievements of the  Force in ensuring national security.

” It will provide a platform to recognize the Force’s critical role in protecting lives and property while reinforcing public trust and collaboration in law enforcement.”

He stated that the event will host government officials, community leaders, representatives from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and key stakeholders from various sectors.

“Tribute will be paid to fallen heroes—police officers who have demonstrated exceptional bravery and made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty” the statement said.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to professional excellence and public service, emphasizing the importance of this event in fostering stronger ties between the police and the public.
