Nigeria Union of Journalists in Bauchi trains 25 members on digital security, safety

The Bauchi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in collaboration with JMT Digital Solutions has organized a one-day training on Digital Security and Safety for twenty five members of the Union, attracted from 11 chapels in the state.
In his opening remarks at the occasion held at the council’s workshop hall, the NUJ Chairman, Bauchi State Council, Comrade Umar Sa’idu, said the leadership of the unoin is very committed and interested in ensuring the provision of such educative global programs for his members so as to update their knowledge and keep them abreast with the latest technical advancement in communication.
While reiterating his stewardship style and commitment towards capacity development to all members in the state , Sa’idu Umar called on the beneficiaries to carefully pay attention to achieve the purpose of organizing the training thereby sharing the experience of what they have learned with other colleagues.
Also speaking at the event, Special Adviser to the Governor of Bauchi State on Media and Communications, Comrade Mukthar Gidado who was represented by the Director, Press, Government House, Alhassan Sulaiman Dambam described the training as a stepping stone that can lead to provision of adequate security to the Journalists while online.
He commented Bauchi NUJ for this initiative and appreciate JMT digital Solutions for collaborating with the state council to update members with the present realities on Digital Security and Safety.
The North East Zonal Manager of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN Mallam Rabiu Sani Ali, said the training was apt in view of the current cyber security threats facing the globe and urged the State Council of the NUJ to continue to provide more of such opportunity for its member to enable them carry out their assignments without fear of being hacked.
In his contribution, the Managing Director of the Bauchi State Television, BATV Ibrahim Sani Umar said the training might not have come at a better time than now, because criminals were using different soft and spywares to steal information from internet users particularly the journalists.
The Lead Resource Person, Mr. Bilyamin Jambil said participants were acquainted with the knowledge of shielding themselves from any form of cyber attack as well as provided with tools to work with while using the internet.
Jambil said he enjoyed the collaboration between NUJ and his company and hope the relationship will continue in the best interest of all.
