Nigerian Army vows to end insecurity in North-Central

The 4 Special Forces Command Nigerian Army Cantonment, Doma, Nasarawa State has said it would not relent in its quest toward defeating any threat to national security and the territorial integrity of the nation.
Magor General Hilary Nzan, Commander 4 Special Forces, Doma, while speaking at the five-day Operation Planning Cadre training for officers in Doma local government area of Nasarawa state, said the training aimed at equiping them with the necessary skills and technical know-how to combat insecurity in their area operation.
He explained that the operation Planning Cadre would avail the field officers the opportunity to learn and interact on the rudiments of operation to support and execute strategic plans.
According to him, the training is held annually by the department of the Army training in their headquarters, Abuja for young officers to equip them with the necessary techniques to address the changing security challenges confronting the country.
He, however, maintained that they also invited sister security agencies as well as paramilitary organisations who were in the field with them to be part of the exercise.
His words, “This is in line with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taereed Lagbaja, Command Philosophy, which is to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force towards achieving our constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment.
“The modules of the cadre were carefully designed to train and equip the officers with relevant operations planning essentials in the attainment of the army goals and objectives.”
The Commander 4 Special Forces averted that the army would not relent in its quest toward defeating any threat to national security and the territorial integrity of the nation.
He, however, tasked all the participants to freely express their opinions and ideas that would help in achieving the desired objectives of the cadre.
General Nzan then called on the participants to make maximum use of the cadre to understand the dynamics of proper synergy, collaboration, and sound coordination of operations with other security agencies.
Earlier, Major General Adams Audu, Commandant, Nigerian School of Military Engineering, Makurdi explained that the operation planning Cadre was designed to enhance the middle cadre officers with the latest rudiments of operational acts and procedures.
He said that the army will collaborate with other security agencies and key stakeholders toward ensuring lasting peace in all parts of the country.
He said that presently the army was in the forefront in the fight against insurgency, banditry, farmers-herders clashes, kidnapping and militancy, among several other security challenges bedevilling the corporate existence of Nigeria.

“These unscrupulous elements have deployed different methods and tactics in a bid to frustrate the successes recorded by the Nigeria Army it its operations,” he stated.
Consently, all personnel must possess the requisite capacity and competence to effectively tackle these challenges through deliberate understanding and deployment of principles and planning procedures for the conduct of operations.
He, therefore, said that the Planning Cadre seeks to enhance the capacity and broaden the knowledge of participants on operational planning, processes and manoeuvring approach to warfare.
Our correspondent reports that some of the officers of sister agencies who spoke to journalists expressed joy for the opportunity to be part of the engagement by the Nigerian Army toward combating crimes in the country.
Lucia Samuel-Mhii, Nasararawa State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Stephen Abene, Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Correctional Service said that the knowledge gained so far would go a long way toward enhancing their responsibilities for better results.
