Nigerian Custom Service working hard to improve health of personnel

The Nigerian Custom Service says it is working round the clock to improve the health status of its personnels across the country.

The Controller General of the service, retired Colonel Hameed Ali announced this at the annual medical retreat of Nigerian Customs Service held in Zaranda hotel, Bauchi.

Colonel Hammed Ali said the event is to provide the opportunity for the leadership and principal officers of the service with a view to come with actionable recommendations that will improve effectiveness of the personnel and identify problems as well as proffer solutions.

The Controller General who was represented by ACG Jack Ajagu, noted that the medical team would carry out medical outreach to some communities of Bauchi state as part of its corporate social responsibility.

While commending the state government for it’s support ,The controller General called on the benefiting communities to make good use of the medical outreach provided by the service.

In his remarks, the state Governor Bala Muhammad said his administration placed premium on the health of its citizens, noting that a state of emergency was declared in health which led to the construction of hospitals ,primary health care facilities among others.

Represented by his Deputy, Senator Baba Tela who said the state government is ready to partner with relevant stakeholders, military and para-military establishments and NGOs with a view to improve the health status of its citizens.

He commended the Nigerian Customs service for ensuring quality revenue generation, security and public welfare service especially in the health sector.

In his remark,the Head of Medical corps, Dr E.Ikechukwu said the purpose of the retreat is to provide the opportunity for the officers to have a special lectures and seminars for medical education

He said the medical corps team will provide health services on 24 of this month in Yalwan Kagadama area of Bauchi local government and that of Kagadama village of Dass local government of Bauchi state.
