Nigerian government awards Serti-Gembu road contract in Taraba

The Federal Government has awarded contract for the repairs of Serti- Gembu road in Taraba State.
Federal Controller of Works in the state, Yakubu Muhammed who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Jalingo said, the Federal Government was highly concerned about the bad condition of the Bali- Serti- Gembu road pointing out that the repairs of the road was captured in this year’s budget.
The Federal Controller explained that the emergency repair project was awarded last year saying that the company handling the project Safiyanu Global Resources Limited visited the site on 29, January for assessment and that work would commence in earnest..
Yakubu Muhammed said the contract is awarded in stages Goje via Mayo Selbe to Maisamari, Maisamari to Nguroje and Nguroje to Gembu adding that the Federal Government has taken over the repairs of the road from where the Taraba State Government stopped.
Muhammed who did not disclosed the complete cost and time frame of the project however said about two hundred Million naira has been earmarked to kick start the project.
The Federal Controller of works called on the host communities to cooperate with the Company handling the project to enable it complete work in good time.
Garba Chede- Bali- Serti – Gembu road is the major highway in the Central Zone of Taraba State leading to the Mambilla Plateau, to the famous Kakara tea Company producers of the Highland Tea and the Federal Government Mambilla Hydro Electric Power Project as well as the gateway to the Cameroons.
